At the end of June I left my job to work full time on Coffee & Dice – so what have I been up to?
Our priority right now is securing the venue, so most of my time has been dealing with that. From following up with the council on planning permission, to meeting with builders and surveyors, to negotiating with the landlord; I’ve learnt more about planning, building control, electrics, plumbing and the nuances of leases than I ever expected to!
More excitingly I’ve also been meeting with local suppliers to put together our menu; it’s been tough but someone had to try all the delicious produce we’re planning to have for you! Learning more about differences in grind coarseness, the weight of an espresso shot, different roasts, micro-bubbles and stretching milk. The end result should be that I can make a mean macchiato, a fabulous flat white and a lovely latte!
Alongside that I’ve been following up on our visit to the UK Game Expo and looking to stay in touch with all the amazing people we met there. I’ve even managed to convince some of them to join us in 2017 so watch out for the events calendar coming soon.
Finally I’ve been play-testing a few games, learning some new ones and somehow squeezing in the time every now and then to play some old favourites with friends, I may even have been catching the occasional Pokemon...
